-Overview-

Two first class flights in one trip, how much better can It get! This flight was Cathay Pacific flight 401 which departed Taipei at 8pm. The flight was scheduled to be on a 777-300ER but again, another aircraft change occurred but it definitely made up for the previous aircraft swap on the flight before, the aircraft got changed to the legendary 747-400, there are only 3 still flying with Cathay Pacific! My last 747 flight was with Qantas from Perth to Johannesburg when I was only 3 months old, so this was a very exciting time for me!

-Check in-

Cathay Pacific has dedicated check-in lanes for First & business class which are located in Terminal 1. The staff where extremely polite and the check-in was speedy.

-Lounge-

Normally my favourite part of a flight, is actually being on the plane but this time, I was excited about two things! Cathay Pacific opened their newly refurbished Taipei lounge only 3 months ago so I was super excited to go and try it.

The meal options while in the lounge where dan dan noodles, beef noodles in soup, and minced pork rice. I tried every option and they where all amazing also to quench your thirst, the bar offers bubble milk tea and a selection of alcoholic beverages. In the lounge, you'll also find showers, bathrooms, refrigerated foods such as sandwiches and tea.

-Flight

Once my ticked had been scanned and I was allowed to board the aircraft, a stewardess showed me to my seat, asked if I wanted anything to drink and gave me a hot towel. For the entire flight, I had a stewardess looking after me, asking me if I needed anything to make the trip more special and assuring my flight was a laid back and comfortable journey, the cabin crew were wonderful!

-Meal / Drinks-

A nice welcoming onboard the flight was at the start of the menu.

On the flight, I decided to skip the Duck liver, I had never tried it before but if I was going to, I didn't want it to be on a flight, just incase I didn't react well to the taste. As for the main, I chose the Braised beef short ribs which was amazing, it has been the best meal I've had on a flight so far. For desert, I was given a Chocolate hazelnut cake which was divine, It was rich and amazing for people who have a sweet tooth, like myself.

-Seat-

Onboard the aircraft, I was seated in 1A. Cathay Pacific has a decent First class seat onboard their aircraft but I can't judge it against much, since I've the only other First class I've flown was with Qantas and the seats where very similar.

The seat itself is very spacious and has a generous amount of leg room with an in-built massage system! First class on-board Cathay doesn't contain overhead bins for luggage storage, instead, you place your luggage in a compartment next to your IFE (The compartment is seen in the photo above).

(Cabin lights dimmed for take-off)

-In flight entertainment-

The personal touch screen monitor featured more than 100 movies and 350 TV shows using the IFE system offered by Cathay Pacific, StudioCX. The control was fairly dated and was just a small device which you held in your hand to control the monitor.

-Summary-

It was another flawless flight onboard Cathay Pacific which remarkable food and the cabin crew always performing well about expectations. The flight was smooth and eventful but due to it's short flight time of only two hours to taipei, I didn't get the full first class 'experience' such as making the seat into a flat bed or the Cathay Pacific pyjamas or amenity kit. Once again, thank you Cathay for the amazing flight!
